Mark Yusko stands at the helm of Morgan Creek Capital Management as its Founder, CEO, and Chief Investment Officer. Before establishing Morgan Creek, Yusko made significant strides in the finance sector as President, Chief Investment Officer, and Founder of UNC Management Company (1998-2004), the endowment investment office for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Under his leadership, the firm managed $1.5 billion in assets, including $1.2 billion in endowment assets and $300 million in working capital.
Previous Tenures and Academic Background
Yusko’s rich experience in endowment management was further shaped during his time at the University of Notre Dame Investment Office, where he served as the Senior Investment Director until 1998. He began his journey there in 1993 as the Assistant Investment Officer, playing a critical role in various aspects of Endowment Management. Yusko’s academic credentials include a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and Chemistry from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA in Accounting and Finance from the University of Chicago.
Advisory and Philanthropic Roles
In addition to his primary role at Morgan Creek, Yusko contributes as an Advisory Board member to numerous private capital partnerships and alternative investment programs. He extends his expertise as a consultant on alternative investments to a select group of institutions. His commitment extends to various philanthropic and educational endeavors, including his roles as Investment Committee member of the MCNC Endowment, President and Chairman of the Investment Committee of The Hesburgh-Yusko Scholars Foundation at the University of Notre Dame, and President and Head of the Investment Committee of the Morgan Creek Foundation.
