Donald Trump Bio
A businessman, politician, and media personality, Donald John Trump served as the 45th president of the United States from 2017 to 2021.
Trump was educated at the New York Military Academy and the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce at the University of Pennsylvania. He was drawn to real estate and construction even before he graduated, and as a young man he took over his father’s firm in 1971, renaming it the Trump Organization.
He expanded the company’s operations to building and renovating skyscrapers, hotels, casinos, and golf courses. He later started side ventures, mostly by licensing his name. He co-produced and hosted the reality television series The Apprentice from 2004 to 2015. Trump and his businesses have been involved in more than 4,000 state and federal legal actions, including six bankruptcies.
Trump won the 2016 United States presidential election as the Republican nominee against Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton despite losing the national popular vote. He became the first U.S. president with no prior military or government service. He lost the 2020 presidential election to Joe Biden but refused to concede defeat. In November 2022, he announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination in the 2024 presidential election.
President Trump and his wife, Melania Trump, have one son, Barron. President Trump also has four adult children from previous marriages: Donald Jr., Ivanka, Eric, and Tiffany, as well as nine grandchildren.
