OpenAI is an AI research and deployment company committed to ensuring that general-purpose artificial intelligence helps all of humanity. OpenAI developed ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence chatbot released in November 2022. ChatGPT is based on OpenAI’s GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 families of large language models (LLMs) and has been fine-tuned (a transfer learning method) utilizing both supervised and reinforcement learning techniques.

ChatGPT’s initial release was based on GPT-3.5. On March 14, 2023, a version based on GPT-4, the most recent OpenAI model, was launched and is now available to premium subscribers on a limited basis.
