Crypto investment firm Sora Ventures will host its Sora Summit in Taipei on Dec. 16 to mark the end of Taipei Blockchain Week, according to a recent statement shared with CryptoSlate.

The initiative, first hosted in Macau in 2018, will feature over 100 speakers discussing Web3-related topics before the over 1000 expected attendees.

Summit to focus on four themes.

Per the press statement, discussions at the summit will revolve around the Bitcoin ecosystem, decentralized science (DeSci), NFT utilities and DeFi infrastructure, and cryptography and encryption.

Sora revealed that the summit’s list of speakers includes Paxos’ co-founder Richmond Teo, the CEO of Bitcoin Startup Lab Albert Liang, Jeffery Huang (Machi Big Brother), CryptoSlate’s CEO Nate Whitehill, and speakers from other blockchain projects like Origin Protocol, BRC20, Bitcoin Magazine Ventures, OnchainMonkey, Pantera Capital, and more.

With the abundance of experts speaking at the event, attendees are expected to cut across several industries interested in Web3 developments, from academia to corporate leaders.

The summit aligns with the mission of Sora Ventures. The VC firm, which also started in 2018, is focused on supporting innovative Web3 companies and bridging resources. It currently has over 80 portfolio companies in several subsectors of the Web3 ecosystem.

Homecoming

Meanwhile, the decision to host the Summit in Taipei represents a homecoming for Sora Ventures. The venture capital firm has its headquarters in Taipei, and this is part of what influenced the decision to host in the city.

According to the managing partner of Sora Ventures, Jason Fang, the firm chose Taipei because of its strategic position in connecting the Asian and Western blockchain communities.

“The city also has a massive upside when it comes to contributing to the ecosystem,” Fang said. “Through partnering with Taipei Blockchain Week, we expect to further emphasize Taipei’s importance within the industry.”
