Gemini suffers 2 downtimes in 7 days

Gemini said it was entering maintenance mode to investigate an application recovery issue.

Crypto exchange Gemini has suffered a second downtime within the last seven days.

According to its status page, some systems were currently experiencing outages. The exchange added that it was “investigating reports of potential service disruptions. All customer accounts and funds remain completely secure. Further updates to follow.”

Its official Twitter handle revealed that the exchange was entering maintenance mode to investigate an application recovery issue. It added that its team was working to attend to the case.

On Dec. 16, the exchange was down for hours due to scheduled maintenance which was extended for over three hours.

Gemini experienced downtime on Nov. 16 due to an Amazon Web Services EBS outage with one of its primary databases.

It was unclear why the exchange suffered from downtime as of press time.

Meanwhile, rival crypto exchanges OKX and Gate.io recently experienced withdrawal issues due to cloud service provider issues.
