Midjourney is a San Francisco-based independent research lab that developed and hosts the artificial intelligence program and service known as Midjourney. It is exploring new mediums of thought and expanding the imaginative powers of the human species.

It is a small, self-funded team focused on design, human infrastructure, and AI.

Midjourney provides three levels of subscriptions and once provided a free trial. Due to excessive demand and trial abuse, Midjourney, Inc. temporarily closed free trial access in April 2023 and now only provides a premium subscription service. The services for creating images are not accessible for free. Users must make a monthly or yearly payment to access the service.
