Yat Siu Bio

Yat Siu (Chinese: 蕭逸; born 1973) is a Hong Kong-based entrepreneur and angel investor. He was born and raised in Vienna, Austria. His mother, originally from Taiwan and born in Lisbon, Portugal, was an orchestra conductor, while his father, born in Hong Kong, was an instrumentalist turned businessman. Siu studied at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna, training in the cello, flute, and piano.

Early Career

Siu began his professional journey at Atari Germany. He later served as director and head of East Coast Operations for Lexicor and worked with AT&T Solutions System Integration practice. After moving to Hong Kong, he founded Cybercity, an Internet and email provider that was later renamed Freenation, known as “Asia’s first free web page and e-mail provider.”

Founding of Animoca Brands

Yat Siu is best known as the co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, a leader in digital entertainment, blockchain, and gamification. Founded in 2014, Animoca Brands has been instrumental in advancing digital property rights and contributing to the establishment of the open metaverse.
