Decentraland co-founder Ari Meilich’s new venture, “Big Time Studios,” will be launching their first public sale of the game’s SPACE NFTs in early December, unlocking the ability for players to craft NFTs and collect tokens as they fight enemies across time and space.

The studio’s first title, “Big Time,” is being developed by a group of industry leaders who have been instrumental in the launch of world-renowned games such as Fortnite, Gears of War, Call of Duty, and Overwatch. Big Time Studios is among the first developers to create a AAA blockchain game, raising $21 million earlier this year to help accelerate their growth.

Since the announcement of their flagship title back in May, the Big Time audience has grown exponentially, currently boasting over 250,000 Discord members and half a million email subscribers. And this November, the company will launch the Big Time Marketplace, featuring their patented Vault technology, which makes NFT gaming accessible to a mass-market audience, alleviating the need for external wallet management, self-custody, and costly on-chain transactions.

At the center of Big Time’s in-game offerings are SPACE NFTs – virtual land upgrades that enable players’ ability to gather Big Time’s very own token. With the proper SPACE upgrades, players can earn cryptocurrency in the course of their adventures. Unlike other crypto games, Big Time’s token will be 100% community-driven: there will be no sale for the token itself, nor will it be assigned to team members, making gameplay the primary means of acquisition.

So far, over a dozen major guilds have participated in the SPACE NFT offering, purchasing $9MM USD of the NFTs. Notable organizations include Yield Guild Games, Merit Circle, Loudgg, Neo Tokyo, and Avocado Guild. Notably, over 23 thousand people have pledged funds to purchase SPACE NFTs, for the equivalent of over $70 million USD.

The Future of the Metaverse

In Big Time, players travel through space and time in defense of history itself. Players will earn their first Time Machine in the early stages of the game, giving them a virtual home to decorate, where they can host events for fellow gamers. They’ll also be able to expand and personalize their Time Machines through the use of SPACE, making this bubble of spacetime a unique reflection of the owner’s personality and achievements.

SPACE NFTs also unlock unique gameplay features and utilities like new portals, extra rooms, and even specialized crafting areas. These add-ons allow for the exploration of new worlds, the chance to fight enemies from other dimensions, the ability to collect the aforementioned token, limited-edition NFTs, and more!

“Many early crypto products required users to jump through a lot of hoops, making them inaccessible to the average gamer,” says Mr. Meilich. “With Big Time, we aim to fix that, finally delivering a true AAA gaming experience that unites crypto with the metaverse.”
