Berlin, Germany, 22nd March, 2022 — KILT identity blockchain for issuing decentralized credentials will enhance Authtrail’s data integrity for enterprise.

Authtrail and B.T.E. BOTLabs Trusted Entity GmbH (BTE), a developer of applications for KILT Protocol, announced plans to integrate KILT DIDs into the Authtrail platform to improve its trustworthiness and transparent data flows. Authtrail is a complete SaaS platform bringing blockchain-based integrity to enterprise data and is powered by Moonbeam, which like KILT is part of the Polkadot ecosystem.

To ensure data provenance throughout the enterprise value chain, digital identities composed of Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) and verifiable credentials using KILT will be integrated into the data sources Authtrail works with.

In data we trust

Historically, trust is something that existed primarily in the physical universe. Personal data is upgraded with credentials (passports, driver’s licenses, educational certificates) that are typically managed and monetized by centralized Web2 institutions and systems.

KILT is a decentralized blockchain protocol for issuing verifiable, revocable, and anonymous credentials and DIDs for Web3. Building on KILT brings trust to the digital world by creating a framework for self-sovereign online identities. Developers can use KILT to create identifiers and credentials for humans, machines, services, IoT use cases, and anything that needs identity.

Data provenance through DIDs

KILT Protocol’s translation of real-life identity credentials to a digital realm offers Authtrail an additional level of veracity and traceability of the data. Authtrail’s enterprise clients have systems, organizations and employees that would need DIDs. These would be created via the Authtrail application using DIDsign, streamlining the onboarding process for large enterprises since no knowledge of blockchain or DIDs is needed by the end user.

With DIDsign, an application built on KILT by BTE, a hash for the data could be linked with a DID to form a signature. The KILT blockchain would not store the signature on-chain, but only the DID.

Authtrail currently provides immutability of data aggregated within its platform, and with DIDsign it could now ensure accountability before data is written to the blockchain. If the anchored data is later altered, the signature and the altered data would no longer match and therefore changes to the data could be easily detected.

“We are excited to work with BTE to integrate DIDs using KILT Protocol. By employing DIDsign, we can procure more value for enterprise customers who want to innovate their identity systems without compromising the security of personal or organizational data in their environment,” said Authtrail CEO, Matjaž Sobočan.

“Both Authtrail and KILT Protocol are bringing Web3 solutions to enterprises and end-users that will drive blockchain adoption in the real world. Collaborating with Authtrail, an expert in enterprise data management, will drive higher trust at a lower cost deeper into organizations,” said Ingo Rübe, founder of KILT Protocol and CEO of B.T.E. BOTLabs Trusted Entity GmbH.

About Authtrail

Authtrail platform tackles data integrity issues in digitized enterprises and organizations through advanced blockchain technology and high operational scalability.
