This virtual conference will take place in a 3D World with the biggest names in blockchain
The rapidly spreading Coronavirus has sent far-reaching shockwaves around the globe, creating a ripple effect that has led to a mass cancellation and postponement of highly anticipated crypto conferences.
This has led to an “adapt or die” dilemma for many of these conferences, forcing them to turn to alternative digital means of communication in order to still host their speakers and provide value for ticket holders.
One conference is taking an exceptionally forward approach to bridging real life with virtual reality, forging a 3D digital world that will allow users to attend and interact with the conference on a digital medium.
This virtual reality-based conference has also drawn some notable speakers, including Binance CEO Changpeng “CZ” Zhao, Akon and others.
BlockDown 2020 bridges the gap between real-life and virtual reality, takes crypto conference into the digital world
BlockDown 2020 is a virtual crypto conference slated to take place on April 16th and 17th, allowing attendees who are currently confined within their homes due to the lockdowns across the globe to interact with companies, speakers, and other participants in a fully virtual medium.
This virtual 3D conference will have many of the same features as a real-life conference has, including speaker panels, fireside chats, company booths, networking areas, and more.
BlockDown founder, Erhan Korhaliller, explained that it can be thought of as a “crypto version of ‘The Sims,’” where users create a 3D avatar and navigate through the digital conference space as they would a real-life one.
This avant-garde approach to a conference offers attendees with multiple benefits, offering them safety, accessibility, and inclusivity, while also exhibiting a myriad of quality speakers and presentations.
In addition to the Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao, leaders of other prominent crypto companies will also be in attendance, including NEO Founder Da Hongfei, ShapeShift CEO Erik Voorhees, and others.
Although users looking for a fully immersive experience are able to use VR headsets to interact with the world, all that is required is a computer and internet connection, which is in-line with BlockDown’s credo of making this event as inclusive as possible during these trying times.
It will also offer those in attendance an opportunity to network with others – a benefit often key to the success of real-life conferences.
Korhaliller spoke about this in a press release, saying:
“We want the networking to be as natural as it would be at a real life conference, where you met your best friend at the water cooler, at the afterparty or in the networking/lounge area. Imagine your usual crypto conference… this will be exactly the same but will allow attendees to control and direct their avatars to whatever content, speakers and booths they’re interested in.”
The crypto conference will even include an afterparty with world-class DJs and will be ongoing over a 12-hour period on each day so that people in all time zones can access it.
