Elon Musk

South African-born Elon Musk has founded several companies, including X.com (which later became PayPal), SpaceX and Tesla Motors. Musk became a multimillionaire when he sold his start-up company, Zip2, to a division of Compaq Computers in his late 20s.

Musk made headlines when SpaceX launched a rocket in May 2012 that would send the first commercial vehicle to the International Space Station. During President Donald Trump’s early days, he served as an adviser to the administration and built up his portfolio with the purchase of SolarCity in 2016.

Musk reportedly became the world’s wealthiest man in January 2021, surpassing Jeff Bezos.

Musk has detailed in the past that he personally owns Dogecoin but has not indicated that Tesla does, though the electric car company has been accepting Doge payments for some merchandise on their website.

Musk initiated the acquisition of Twitter, Inc. on April 14, 2022, and concluded it on October 27, 2022.
