Bitboy’s Ben Armstrong had gun ‘on the back seat’ while arrested ranting on livestream
BitBoy Crypto founder's livestream meltdown leads to arrest amid allegations of theft and threats.
Ben Armstrong, founder of the popular cryptocurrency YouTube channel BitBoy Crypto, was arrested during a bizarre livestream rant outside a private residence on Saturday.
The rambling, one-sided conversation appeared to show Armstrong accosting someone named Carlos Diaz, whom he accused of stealing his Lamborghini and making death threats against him. Armstrong cited various unsubstantiated claims about Carlos’ supposed mafia connections and a plot to take over Armstrong’s company.
Police arrived on the scene after concerned neighbors called about Armstrong’s confrontational behavior. In the video, officers can be heard asking Armstrong to put down his phone and question him about a firearm in his vehicle.
Armstrong confirmed that he had a firearm “on the back seat” of his car during the video.
Armstrong admitted to having an affair and made references to substance abuse struggles. He told officers a woman named Cassie, likely BitBoy Crypto co-founder Cassie Wolfe, was also in his vehicle.
After police searched Armstrong, he was placed under arrest. The livestream video continued for several more minutes while audio captured what sounded like Armstrong being taken into custody.
The bizarre episode is the latest in a string of controversial behavior that led to Armstrong’s removal from BitBoy Crypto earlier this month. The company announced he had been let go due to substance abuse issues and inappropriate conduct.
Armstrong later posted an emotional apology video admitting to making poor decisions that let his followers down. But the erratic livestream and arrest indicate further tumult for the formerly influential crypto analyst.
The charges against Armstrong are not yet clear.ย The livestream left many questions unanswered. But the arrest signifies deepening troubles for the cryptosphere’s once-prominent BitBoy.
