CryptoSlate offers condolences to the friends and family of Bob Lee, who succumbed to injuries in hospital following a stabbing incident in San Francisco on April 4.

Bob Lee most recently served as the chief product officer (CPO) of MobileCoin, a cryptocurrency project focused on payments.

He also served as CTO of Square (now Block Inc.) between 2010 and 2014. He was responsible for creating Square’s mobile payments Cash App, which would introduce support for Bitcoin four years after his departure.

Lee was additionally involved in the creation of Android during his time as a staff software engineer at Google, a role he held between 2004 and 2010.

Lee was 43 at the time of his passing.

He is survived by his spouse and daughters. CryptoSlate extends its sympathies to the family and others who knew Bob and his work.
