Zug, Switzerland, August 15th, 2024, Chainwire – Supra, the fully vertically integrated Layer-1 blockchain built with MultiVM support, in-protocol oracles, native onchain randomness, cross-chain communication, and automation capabilities, is pleased to announce the launch of its highly anticipated Layer-1 testnet. This launch of the testnet marks a significant milestone in the development of Supra as a preeminent L1, and brings the organization closer to mainnet launch. In recent tests with 300 globally distributed nodes, Supra has achieved over 500k TPS with sub-second end to end consensus latency.
The early stage testnet is currently live – and is designed for internal testing, with limited access granted to select partner dApps and builders. The controlled environment has already allowed Supra to rigorously test and refine the baseline Layer-1 systems, ensuring adequate security and stability before being available to the public.
Supra has collaborated with over 160 MOU-signed dApps across multiple ecosystems, many of whom may deploy to help “stress-test” the testnet. Furthermore, Supra’s 512k KYC’d verified token holders will be provided early access to engage the testnet and provide invaluable feedback that will shape the network’s future. The Supra team is planning to conduct regression testing by stressing the network to cause instability or crashes on purpose, which can lead to restarts. These stress-tests play a key role in ensuring the network’s robustness and help make it bulletproof against such events before they roll out mainnet.
While this initial permissioned testnet environment has already proven to be incredibly beneficial in fortifying the network’s stability, the open testnet is expected to provide the network a strong simulation of real world conditions. Supra’s permissionless testnet is expected to go live within the next few days, upon which users and developers will be able to claim testnet tokens from a dedicated faucet, enabling them to engage in token transfers and other onchain interactions. This hands-on experience will be crucial in gathering user feedback and ensuring a smooth public launch. Everyone will have access to the testnet faucet through the official wallet of Supra, the StarKey Wallet, and will be able to perform simple transactions using test tokens.
In its initial releases, Supra will support the deployment of Move smart contracts, and is aiming to launch their EVM environment running parallel to MoveVM shortly after, with the ultimate goal to launch a combined smart contract environment and create the most diverse MultiVM Layer-1 in Web3. After their Token Generation Event, support for Solana and Cosmos decentralized applications is planned.
Launch Incentivization
Supra plans to introduce entertaining games on their hugely successful “Countdown to Blast Off” platform, and connect them to the public testnet. This incentivized approach will allow their community and “cadets” to claim testnet tokens and come onboard as the network’s first users, giving them fun opportunities to win SUPRA tokens during the launch campaign.
“The launch of our early stage testnet is a pivotal moment for Supra and the Web3 community,” said Supra CEO Joshua Tobkin. “Our commitment to providing secure, user-friendly solutions is resolute, and our testnet is already proving to be a testament to this dedication to innovation. We are eager to see the Web3 community engage with our network and provide valuable feedback that will drive us towards a successful mainnet launch.”
Supra invites its community and MOU-signed dApps to start experimenting with the testnet as soon as possible, and contact the team with any technical queries they may have. Supra has said that it will soon be providing testnet documentation, faucet guides, and tutorials to help users and developers claim testnet tokens and initiate transactions. Supra is seeking high participation numbers and feedback that will be crucial in the preparation for their mainnet launch. The organization invites all users to follow its X, LinkedIn, and other social media channels closely for the official public testnet announcements.
This significant moment in Supra’s roadmap is another step closer to the launch of its powerful, high performance L1 blockchain and brings the organization ever closer to their much anticipated Token Generation Event and mainnet launch. Supra thanks its supporters, community, and team for their unwavering commitment to the mission, and is more determined than ever to usher in the next era of blockchain technology.
