First DAC8 crypto-asset reports and information exchange
DAC8 covers reportable crypto-asset transactions from 2026. The first national reporting and cross-border exchange cycle occurs in 2027, with the initial information exchanges due by September 30; domestic provider deadlines differ. For Bitcoin, implementation may affect compliance friction, participation and confidence in regulated access. This is a reporting milestone, not a new tax rate or a ban on Bitcoin.

Assumptions and timing
- Editorial note
- Local Bitcoin example: upside +5%, central 0%, downside -5% are illustrative sensitivity assumptions, not European Commission price estimates. The central case assumes known reporting requirements are already priced in. The alternatives represent incremental compliance friction or improved confidence. Do not add another adjustment for the same DAC8 rollout under a different label.
