The Sky ecosystem has officially introduced SKY as its new governance token, offering a path for existing MKR holders to upgrade their tokens in exchange for deeper involvement and new earning mechanisms within the protocol. Designed to enhance decentralized governance and liquidity utility, SKY emerges as a central element in the ecosystem’s next phase of development.
Holders of the MKR token can now voluntarily upgrade their MKR to SKY at a fixed conversion rate of 24,000 SKY per MKR. This optional upgrade does not lock users in permanently, as SKY can also be converted back into MKR, providing flexibility and reversibility for participants. The conversion mechanism reflects Sky’s goal of building on MakerDAO’s foundational governance model while offering expanded capabilities.
Upon launch, Sky’s Smart Burn Engine is set to reorient its focus toward the SKY/USDS market. This shift includes not only the migration of all existing liquidity from prior markets but also future automatic liquidity acquisition through the protocol’s surplus. This strategy aims to create a deep and resilient liquidity pool, ensuring stability and growth potential for the SKY token.
