Quick Take
- Murad confirmed Neuner’s $81 million paper-gains roundtrip calculation and said he expected the wallets eventually to reach billions.
- He described holding for another six to eight years as part of leading by example in memecoin communities.
- The exchange does not establish an $81 million realized loss.
Memecoin investor Murad Mahmudov confirmed an $81 million roundtrip in paper gains during a TOKEN2049 panel, then told moderator Ran Neuner he was “totally” fine with it because he expected the wallets eventually to be worth billions.
Neuner asked if Murad “roundtripped eighty-one million dollars,” to which he responded, “Yes.” Murad replied to being “cool with that”:
“Yeah, totally, because, uh, I think those wallets are gonna be in the billions eventually.”
The remarks came during the Oct. 7 TOKEN2049 Singapore panel, “Memecoins: Dead or Just Getting Started?” Their renewed circulation adds a figure to Murad's argument that holding through a reported collapse in paper wealth shows conviction in what comes next.
On Oct. 22, Token2049 promoted the full panel, highlighting Murad's separate prediction that a memecoin would eventually reach a trillion.
Holding memecoins as an example
Just before the exchange, Murad said building something “bigger than Dogecoin” required “extreme levels of diamond handedness,” along with a culture of holding and belief.
“Diamond hands” is the trading shorthand for refusing to sell through volatility. Murad linked that willingness to hold to the community he wanted to build, putting the phrase to a personal test.
He said he has to “lead by example,” adding that his targets were so much higher than the 2025 levels that he planned to hold for another “six, seven, eight years.”
In Murad's account, remaining invested is part of the leadership role itself. He presents the willingness to hold through the reported drawdown as a way to demonstrate the belief he wants to see from the wider community.
It also leaves the financial claim resting on a future outcome. His confidence that the wallets will eventually reach billions does not establish that they will, or provide a timetable for recovering the paper gains discussed on stage.
Later in the panel, Murad described himself as “a huge supporter” of SPX6900. The token's price was about $0.36 on Oct. 22, roughly 84% below its all-time high.
In April 2025, SquidGrow founder Shibtoshi argued that utility and an organic community were needed to sustain value. Murad's remarks emphasize holding and belief, even when the paper value falls sharply.
In another Oct. 22 post, Murad wrote that “visionaries don't wait for ‘confirmation’.”
On stage, the contrast needed no extra commentary. Neuner put $81 million on him, Murad said yes, then looked ahead to billions.
