The Grayscale Ethereum Staking ETF (ETHE), formerly Grayscale Ethereum Trust, holds ether and stakes part of its holdings. ETHE converted to an exchange-traded product listed on NYSE Arca in July 2024.
How ETHE Works
Investors buy and sell ETHE shares through a brokerage account. The fund manages custody and staking, while shareholders receive exposure to changes in the value of ether. Retail shares do not give holders the right to withdraw ether into their own wallets.
Fees and Risks
ETHE charges an annual sponsor fee of 2.50%. Its staking arrangement also deducts 23% of staking rewards. These charges are separate from brokerage commissions and the bid/ask spread.
Staking adds slashing and withdrawal-delay risks to ether price and custody risks. ETHE is separate from Grayscale’s lower-fee Ethereum Staking Mini ETF, which trades under ETH. Investors should check the ticker when placing an order.
