Edgars Nemše is the CEO of the GenLayer Foundation, which stewards the GenLayer network and its treasury, and a co-founder of GenLayer. GenLayer is an AI-native blockchain designed to settle disputes between humans and software agents in minutes through a jury of independent AI validators that no single party controls.
Product and Professional Background
Nemše co-authored the GenLayer whitepaper. As Chief Product Officer of GenLayer Labs, he led the product from its first prototype to public testnet.
As of September 2026, his experience includes 12 years building software in early-stage companies, eight of them in crypto. He co-founded StakeHound and served as its Chief Technology Officer. The liquid staking protocol reached $300 million in staked assets. He also worked as a quantitative researcher at Millburn Ridgefield and was the founding engineer of Edurio, an education-technology platform.
Education
Nemše studied Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science at the University of Edinburgh from 2012 to 2015, earning a BSc. He attended Riga State Gymnasium No. 1 from 2006 to 2012.
