Hugging Face

Hugging Face, Inc. is an American company that develops tools for creating applications utilizing machine learning. It is well known for its platform that enables users to exchange machine learning models and datasets as well as its transformers library created for applications using natural language processing.

Clément Delangue, Julien Chaumond, and Thomas Wolf, three French businessmen, launched the organization in 2016 with the intention of creating a chatbot app for teenagers. The company switched its focus to being a platform for machine learning after opening-sourcing the model that powered the chatbot.

Open-source transformer model implementations for text, image, and audio operations are included in the Transformers library, a Python package. It features implementations of well-known models like BERT and GPT and is interoperable with the PyTorch, TensorFlow, and JAX deep learning libraries. Users can exchange pre-trained models, datasets, and machine learning project demos on the Hugging Face Hub.

The Hugging Face ecosystem also includes libraries for additional activities, such as analyzing datasets (“Datasets”), evaluating models (“Evaluate”), simulating scenarios (“Simulate”), and showing off machine learning (“Gradio”).
