Coinone About

Coinone is a South Korean crypto-asset exchange operated by Coinone, Inc. The company was established in February 2014 as Devign Lab by founder Cha Myunghun and opened the Coinone exchange in October 2014. It adopted the Coinone corporate name in February 2016. Cha is currently listed as representative director, and the company is headquartered in Yeouido, Seoul.

Coinone is primarily a Korean won spot market. It supports Bitcoin, Ether, XRP and a wider selection of crypto assets against KRW, alongside custodial deposits and withdrawals. Additional services include fixed and flexible staking, recurring purchases, automated and smart-trading tools, mobile apps, portfolio and market-data features, and an Open API. The platform also accepts eligible corporate accounts.

Under South Korea’s Specified Financial Information Act, Coinone operates as a reported virtual-asset service provider. The Financial Intelligence Unit accepted its report in November 2021, and Coinone remains on the regulator’s current list of reported operators. This is a statutory reporting status rather than a standalone exchange licence.

Coinone says it uses cold-wallet storage for customer crypto assets. Its official disclosures also record ISMS-P certification through December 2027 and ISO 27001 certification through February 2028. In April 2026, the FIU imposed a three-month partial business-suspension order and an administrative fine for anti-money-laundering breaches. A court subsequently stayed the suspension while Coinone’s challenge proceeds.

Ownership History

Coinone’s corporate history records an investment and M&A transaction with Daily Financial Group in 2015. Com2uS Holdings entered as a strategic investor in 2021 and later became the second-largest shareholder.

A further ownership restructuring was completed in 2026. Korea Investment & Securities and OKX Ventures each acquired approximately 20% following FIU acceptance of the major-shareholder change in July. After the transaction, Cha retained approximately 30.36% and management control, while the Com2uS group retained approximately 24.54%. Coinone continues to operate through Coinone, Inc.; the new investors are significant shareholders rather than the exchange’s operator.
