MetaWin was founded in 2022 by Richard Skelhorn, known in the crypto gaming community as “Skel,” a two-decade iGaming veteran who built the affiliate business Atemi Group from 2015 and sold it to Better Collective in October 2020 in a deal worth up to 44 million euros. November 2024 Security Incident
On November 3, 2024, an attacker exploited MetaWin's frictionless withdrawal system and drained roughly $4 million from the platform's Ethereum and Solana hot wallets. The company paused withdrawals while it investigated and restored them for most users shortly after, and Skelhorn stated that affected balances were made whole, in part from his own funds. Blockchain investigator ZachXBT linked around 115 addresses to the attacker and traced the stolen crypto to KuCoin and a nested service on HitBTC. The incident affected the company's own operational wallets, and the platform has continued operating since.
