MetaWin Casino About

MetaWin is a Web3 casino that has been live since 2022 and works differently from most of its rivals: players connect a crypto wallet instead of registering an account, and its signature prize competitions are hosted in Ethereum smart contracts with publicly visible entries and winner selection. That wallet-first, on-chain design has made it one of the more recognizable names among online crypto casinos, and the company behind it is unusually visible for the sector, with a named founder who fronts the brand personally.

Everything about the playing experience itself — games, promotions, withdrawals, and how the wallet model works in practice — is covered in our MetaWin Casino review.

Who Operates MetaWin?

The site is operated by Asobi N.V., a company registered in Curaçao under number 153109 at Abraham de Veerstraat 9, Willemstad. MetaWin was founded in 2022 by Richard Skelhorn, known in the crypto gaming community as “Skel,” a two-decade iGaming veteran who built the affiliate business Atemi Group from 2015 and sold it to Better Collective in October 2020 in a deal worth up to 44 million euros. Because sign-in happens through a wallet connection, MetaWin sits in the no-KYC casino bracket by default, though the operator reserves the right to run identity checks under its terms.

Licensing and Regulatory Status

MetaWin holds gaming license ALSI-1523 12009-FI3 from the Government of the Autonomous Island of Anjouan, part of the Union of the Comoros. The brand started out under a Curaçao licensing arrangement and moved to the Anjouan license in 2024, a period when Curaçao's overhauled framework prompted a number of operators to switch jurisdictions. Anjouan is an offshore licensing regime, and gaming obligations rest with Asobi N.V. as the named license holder; what that setup means for players in practice is weighed in our MetaWin Casino review.

November 2024 Security Incident

On November 3, 2024, an attacker exploited MetaWin's frictionless withdrawal system and drained roughly $4 million from the platform's Ethereum and Solana hot wallets. The company paused withdrawals while it investigated and restored them for most users shortly after, and Skelhorn stated that affected balances were made whole, in part from his own funds. Blockchain investigator ZachXBT linked around 115 addresses to the attacker and traced the stolen crypto to KuCoin and a nested service on HitBTC. The incident affected the company's own operational wallets, and the platform has continued operating since.
