The LeBron James Family Foundation entered a multi-year partnership with Crypto.com to develop a curriculum for the I PROMISE School in Akron, Ohio, Akron Beacon Journal reported.

Opened in 2018, I PROMISE is a public elementary school supported by LeBron James Family Foundation specifically aimed at at-risk children.

The NBA star announced the partnership–revealing the intent behind educating the school’s 1.600 students about cryptocurrency, blockchain technology, and related careers.

Students’ families can participate in the program

“I’m still learning as everything keeps evolving, and now with Crypto.com, I want to make sure my kids and families are part of that as well,” said the NBA star.

I Promise students will learn about cryptocurrency, the underlying technology, and related career fields in both, virtual and in-person settings–from experts provided by Crypto.com.

The details of the partnership were not yet disclosed, but the cooperation will run for multiple years.

“Blockchain technology is revolutionizing our economy, sports and entertainment, the art world, and how we engage with one another. I want to ensure that communities like the one I come from are not left behind,” James explained.

The program will extend to students’ families as a part of the foundation’s holistic approach– including career planning and job training opportunities.

At the end of last year, Crypto.com took over the naming rights of the arena in Los Angeles, where James is currently playing for the Lakers.

The crypto exchange has been around since 2016 and has grown to 10 million customers.

James believes that this partnership will help educate and support his community with the information and tools they need for inclusion.

“We are excited to work with them to develop new educational resources and job training opportunities, which can then be replicated in other communities,” according to Kris Marszalek, co-founder, and CEO of Crypto.com, who explained the end goal is to help support as many people as possible to reach financial independence.
