About the Position
We’re looking for a Founding Content Lead (Contract/Freelance) to build and run the Crypto & Fintech content-led product on CryptoSlate.com.
This is a senior individual-contributor role. Expect most of your time to be spent writing, editing, and publishing in the CMS, with some work on templates and page structure alongside the dev team.
We’re scaling these sections into a structured destination where readers can learn, compare, and make informed decisions, and where our team can expand coverage across more topics and search intents over time, without compromising accuracy.
Initial scope includes explainers, Top X lists, reviews, comparisons, newsletters, and research across crypto products and markets, especially ETFs, exchanges, brokers, cards, and stock trading platforms. We’ll expand into additional verticals later.
You’ll set the standard for how CryptoSlate produces and publishes crypto + fintech content that readers can actually use to learn and compare options.
This is a hands-on contract role with a clear path to a full-time Head of Content position based on delivery. You’ll combine editorial judgment with product thinking, shaping templates, page structures, and comparison experiences alongside the CryptoSlate dev team and senior SEO support.
AI is the default. Anything that can be accelerated with AI (research, outlining, drafting, editing, refreshing) should be done with AI, while keeping claims precise and verifiable.
Team & Working Style
We’re a lean team, business development (director) plus the CryptoSlate development team. You’ll work independently day to day, with access to SEO support from senior management and direct collaboration with developers when templates, components, or page types need improving.
Most of your time will be spent producing and publishing content: researching, writing, editing, and uploading pages into the CMS, using AI wherever it can accelerate the workflow.
Core Mission
Build and run a scalable content system for crypto + fintech that delivers clear, accurate explainers, reviews, and comparisons, and improves how those pages are structured and experienced on CryptoSlate.
Key Responsibilities
- Write, edit, and publish content across explainers, Top X lists, reviews, comparisons, newsletters, and research.
- Use AI as the default for research, outlining, drafting, editing, and refreshing content, moving fast without sacrificing clarity or factual accuracy.
- Upload, format, and maintain content in the CMS (including updates and refreshes), keeping pages consistent and easy to read.
- Maintain on-page SEO fundamentals with guidance and support from senior management (intent matching, internal linking, headings, metadata).
- Work with the director and CryptoSlate developers on templates, components, and content-led UX improvements.
- Ensure regulatory-aware coverage (no investment advice, clear risk language, careful jurisdictional statements) and maintain clear listing and ranking criteria for reviews and comparisons.
What We’re Looking For
- Senior experience owning crypto/fintech content for a publication, comparison site, or product-led platform.
- A portfolio that shows you’ve shipped and maintained high-intent pages (reviews, comparisons, evergreen explainers).
- Strong product intuition: you can turn user intent and SEO guidance into clear page structures and requirements for developers.
- Comfortable working independently in a small team and publishing directly in a CMS.
- AI-native workflow: you use AI for research, outlining, drafting, editing, and refreshing, while keeping claims specific and checkable.
- Strong judgment for high-risk topics: clear risk disclosure, careful language around performance/returns, and no misleading claims.
- A commitment to convert the contract to a full-time Head of Content role based on agreed-upon performance milestones.
Nice to Have
- SEO and content systems experience (templates, taxonomies, internal linking).
- Experience with structured data (schema) and content databases.
- Experience managing a distributed bench of writers/editors/analysts.
- Familiarity with ETFs, online brokers, and stock trading platforms alongside crypto.

Contract Basics
- Initial 3-month contract (freelance/contractor).

- Work can be done as an individual contractor or via your company. Payment is handled via invoice (cadence agreed upfront).
